In August 2019, Takargo started a new container transport operation for Maersk Line. This operation aims to connect the ports of Lisbon, Leixões and Sines where Maersk has regular stopovers with supporting terminals in Bobadela, Entroncamento and Alfarelos. The operation will have the permanent allocation of a diesel-electric Vossloh Euro 4000 locomotive, which will involve 7 weekly frequencies to be defined together with the customer. The capacity of the trains will depend on the axis in question, but an average transport capacity of 60 TEU per trip is estimated.

Maersk Line is the largest shipping line in the world, both in terms of fleet size and transport capacity, belonging to the Danish conglomerate Maersk Group. Maersk Line operates more than 786 vessels corresponding to a transport capacity of 4.1 million TEU.
