Following the Competition Authority approval, the SNCF Group confirms the acquisition of Takargo continuing to promote rail freight in Europe and modal transfer. On June 30, 2022, Takargo joined the Captrain network, an important player in rail transport in Europe, becoming part of Rail Logistics Europe, the division of the SNCF Group dedicated to logistics and rail freight.
This acquisition demonstrates Rail Logistics Europe’s confidence in the potential of the Portuguese and Iberian market, thanks to the dynamism of its main ports and industries, but also the alignment with the Portuguese government’s desire to support rail freight transport, particularly with the construction and modernization of the rail network.
The acquisition of Takargo will not imply any changes to the organization. The current team has demonstrated effective management and a good capacity to respond to the requests of its industrial and logistical customers.
