In September 2019, Takargo started a new vehicle traction operation from the Volkswagen plant in Palmela to the Port of Setúbal. This operation was reactivated by Volkswagen, Rodo Cargo and Porto de Setúbal, having started with two daily trips, with an estimated doubling of the service to 4 trips in 2020, allowing in the future the transport of around 250 vehicles daily.

Takargo already had experience in motor vehicles transport, although this new operation has different characteristics in terms of train length (largest train ran by Takargo), the high number of weekly trains carried out and rolling stock specifications.

This rail transport service in partnership with Rodo Cargo has proven to be a service with a continuous growth and contribution for the decrease of road traffic.
